Meet Our Fall 2023 Executive Board
Executive President: Kristy Chung
Kristy is an exploratory business major, and aims to double major in HRM and Finance. She plays a pivotal role in the organization, focusing on establishing lasting sponsor relationships to enhance SHRM's offerings for its members. Kristy is dedicated to flawlessly executing SHRM events, offering valuable experiences and growth opportunities to members. Her role includes advocating for accountability, meeting deadlines, and keeping the board on track to achieve their collective goals.
Executive Vice President: Mia Umeda
Mia is going to be majoring in Human Resource Management and International Business. This semester, Mia endeavors to enhance the SHRM experience for all members. She is dedicated to expanding community service opportunities, creating meaningful connections with alumni to tap into their expertise and resources, and representing SHRM at a variety of events. Mia believes that by fostering a sense of community within the organization and strengthening ties with alumni, SHRM can further its mission of professional growth and networking for all its members.
Executive Secretary: Kai Bloom
Kai is majoring in Human Resource Management. This semester, Kai Bloom has outlined three primary goals encompassing professional, social, and personal growth. Professionally, Kai aims to foster growth by maintaining their current internship and actively participating in clubs to expand their network and gain valuable experience. In the realm of social development, Kai is leveraging networking efforts to forge new friendships and connections. On a personal level, Kai is committed to self-improvement through disciplined work and striving to become a dependable and integral part of the Executive Board.
Director of Corporate Relations: Vincent Lee
Vincent is majoring in Human Resource Management, International Business, and Management, with a focus this semester on strengthening the SHRM Aloha Chapter. His goals include helping members build relationships with HR professionals, fostering talent retention, and community growth. Vincent also aims to enhance the chapter's affiliation with SHRM Hawaii and build connections with other business clubs at Shidler, emphasizing the importance of unity among youth for a positive impact on Hawaii's future. He is committed to maximizing opportunities and unity within SHRM Aloha Chapter.
Director of Marketing: Rzenseth Cabansag
Rzenseth is a Marketing major. Rzenseth's personal goals for this semester revolve around the pursuit of creativity and innovation. She is determined to further develop her skills in storytelling and photography, two passions close to her heart. Additionally, Rzenseth is committed to forging meaningful connections with her peers, believing that diverse perspectives fuel creativity. She eagerly anticipates capturing the exciting and remarkable moments within the SHRM community. Moreover, she looks forward to her upcoming graduation and the prospect of joining a forward-thinking company that shares her passion for creative thinking and innovative solutions, allowing her to utilize her marketing skills to the fullest.
Director of D.E.I and Strategy: Susan Iverson
Susan is a Human Resource Management and International Business major. Susan approaches her final semester with a clear set of objectives. Her foremost aim is to leave a meaningful, lasting impact during her last semester, dedicating herself to making a positive difference within her academic community. Additionally, Susan is committed to providing valuable resources and opportunities that foster equity and inclusion, recognizing the importance of diversity in all aspects of life. As she approaches graduation, Susan's ultimate goal is to secure a full-time position in HR with a company that aligns with her deeply-held values, ensuring a fulfilling and purpose-driven career journey ahead.
Director of Fundraising: Jaylyn Reyes
Jaylyn is a Management and Human Resource Management major. Jaylyn's goals for this semester encompass personal and professional growth. She aspires to expand her network of professionals to gain insights into post-college opportunities. Simultaneously, Jaylyn seeks to nurture new relationships, be it through her classes or involvement in SHRM, recognizing the value of diverse connections. As she approaches her final semester, Jaylyn is determined to finish strong academically, all while embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Through this process, she aims to gain a deeper understanding of her career aspirations and the path she wishes to pursue.
Inter-Business Council Senator: Noah Sasaki
Noah is a Finance and Human Resource Management major. Noah enters this semester with enthusiasm and a clear set of goals. Foremost among them is the desire to forge lasting connections by meeting new people, aiming to develop lifelong friendships. Simultaneously, Noah recognizes the significance of honing his interviewing skills and mastering professional etiquette as essential skills for his future. With a strong focus on personal and professional development, he aspires to secure an internship opportunity in either the HR or Finance field, paving the way for a successful career ahead.
Operations Manager: Tower Vergara
Tower embarks on the final semester with a set of focused goals. Firstly, he is determined to expand his professional and social networks, recognizing the value of relationships in both spheres. With this being his last semester, Tower aims to conclude his college journey with a wealth of meaningful connections. Secondly, he's determined to secure an entry-level job before the semester's end, prioritizing job security post-graduation. Lastly, Tower is committed to graduating while solidifying his unique 'style' in the dynamic digital marketing world, ensuring a strong start to his career in the field.
Chapter Faculty Advisor: Dr. Sonia Ghumman
As an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa at the Shidler College of Business, Professor Ghumman teaches courses that focus on organizations, leadership, and international management. While being an educator, some awards she has received include the University Distinguished Fellowship from Michigan State University, Graduate Student Scholarship from Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Shirley M. Lee Research Award, CIBER Grant, Shidler College Faculty Fellow, Professor of the Semester, and the Shidler College Dennis Ching Excellence in Teaching Award.
